CANALS & NEIGHBOURHOODS
Leave time between the museums. Walk the quieter streets of the Jordaan, cross a few bridges and find a café where you can watch the city go by.
Make a weekend of it →ARCHITECTURE & THE WATERFRONT
Look up, then head towards the river. Modern buildings, broad waterfront walks and the contrast between old harbour corners and a changing skyline make this a different kind of Dutch city.
Read the travel notes →SMALL STREETS & SLOW AFTERNOONS
Follow the Oudegracht and its waterside wharves. The compact centre suits an unhurried afternoon: a bookshop, a coffee stop and a walk without much of a plan.
Plan a gentle day trip →LESS RUSH. MORE ROOM.
Choose one neighbourhood each day. The gaps in your plan are part of the trip.
Start with breakfast in the Jordaan. Follow the canals on foot and turn down a street simply because it looks inviting.
Choose a museum or a long walk through Vondelpark. Book any timed museum entry directly with the venue before you travel.
Browse a bookshop, linger over lunch and leave a little time for a last canal-side walk before your train.
A FEW THINGS BEFORE YOU GO
Cycle lanes are busy. Check both ways before crossing and keep walking routes separate from the bike path.
A light waterproof and comfortable shoes make a day of changing weather easier. Check the forecast before setting out.
Check current train times, venue opening hours and ticket requirements with the operators. Leave time for a detour.
This is a small, independent travel notebook about the Netherlands. We like walkable days, ordinary neighbourhoods and plans with room to change. Clover does not sell bookings or collect visitor accounts.
